Wilmington – September 30, 2026 -- DuPont has launched the Sugar Separation Advisor, a digital tool that helps sugar and sweetener manufacturers identify candidate DuPontTM AmberLiteTM chromatography resins for food and beverage ingredient production.
Tool draws on years of experimental laboratory data to speed resin selection
Built on decades of chromatography application expertise, the platform allows users to select a target sugar or sweetener for recovery or purification, add up to four additional sugars or impurities representing their feed stream, and generate a predicted chromatogram based on laboratory-generated separation data. The system then delivers a qualitative separation assessment and suggests AmberLiteTM resin candidates for further testing, rather than relying on a theoretical performance model.
DuPont targets emerging sugar categories including allulose, tagatose and rare sugars
DuPont developed the tool in response to recurring customer inquiries covering allulose, tagatose, sorbitol, oligosaccharides, xylose and inositol. The AmberLiteTM portfolio already supports established processes such as high-fructose corn syrup and beet sugar production, alongside emerging applications including dextrose enrichment, polysaccharides, high-purity sugars, polyols and rare sugars.
"Selecting the right resin is an important early step in developing an effective sugar separation process," said Shane Kendra, Global Market Leader for Food and Beverage and Healthcare at DuPont Water Solutions. He added that the tool helps customers focus laboratory testing on the most promising resin candidates ahead of technical consultations.
Access requires free registration through DuPont's Resource Center Premium
The Sugar Separation Advisor is hosted on DuPont's Resource Center Premium, which provides free registered access to digital tools and technical resources. DuPont recommends that customers follow up with its technical experts to evaluate specific feed composition, process conditions, location, operating requirements and validation needs before finalizing a resin selection.
Manufacturers are increasingly diversifying sugar and sweetener portfolios to respond to shifting consumer demand and to extract greater value from existing feedstocks, making early-stage separation feasibility assessment a growing bottleneck in process development.
