Datamaran Rebrands as AI Governance Platform, Ditches ESG-Only Image

New York – September 08, 2026 -- Datamaran has overhauled its brand identity, positioning and website to reflect its shift from an ESG topic-management tool into an AI-powered governance platform used by legal, risk and executive teams at large enterprises.

Nearly one in three deals now involves risk and legal executives, not just sustainability officers

Datamaran said general counsel or chief risk officers now sit alongside sustainability leads in almost a third of its ongoing commercial transactions, a shift the company cited as the primary driver behind the rebrand. The company has spent more than 12 years building its product around ESG topic management, but said boardroom priorities have moved toward treating regulatory complexity, artificial intelligence, trade policy and supply-chain risk as issues requiring real-time, evidence-backed reporting rather than long-term monitoring.

CEO says product outpaced brand as customer base expanded beyond sustainability teams

"Two years ago our customers were sustainability teams thinking about long-term value. Today those same issues have become immediate business risks, and we're in the room with risk, legal and executive stakeholders because the questions being asked of them have changed," said Marjella Lecourt-Alma, CEO and co-founder of Datamaran. She said the company's product had already adapted to this shift, but its branding had not.

Regulatory monitoring tool launched in February gains traction with compliance buyers

Datamaran's regulatory monitoring solution, launched in February, has picked up adoption among legal and compliance buyers, which the company said demonstrates that both the range of tracked issues and the depth of underlying data now extend well beyond ESG. The platform uses continuous risk detection and peer benchmarking to power AI-driven features aimed at cross-functional teams operating in high-stakes, fast-moving environments.

New website drops sustainability-sector visual language for governance-focused messaging

The redesigned website, live as of the announcement, restructures Datamaran's positioning around governance use cases and replaces prior sustainability-oriented messaging with language tailored to risk, legal and governance audiences. The new corporate identity moves away from the visual language of the sustainability sector that Datamaran originally launched under, adopting a design system built around signals, evidence and continuous monitoring.

"Sustainability work hasn't disappeared, it has just shifted," said Nick Geurds, Chief Revenue Officer at Datamaran. "Nearly a third of our deals now involve legal heads, risk managers and other executives who need a rigorous, data-backed process, not a sustainability dashboard."
