Datamaran Names Bert Sinnema CTO to Lead AI Product Push

Leeuwarden – September 08, 2026 -- Datamaran, an AI-driven risk management and governance software provider, has appointed Bert Sinnema as Chief Technology Officer, tasking him with leading global engineering and product teams from the company's Leeuwarden, Netherlands base, including its engineering hub in Valencia, Spain.

Sinnema takes over technology strategy as Datamaran accelerates AI integration

Sinnema will own Datamaran's product vision, strategy and technology roadmap, overseeing architecture, implementation and team management. He joins as Datamaran scales AI capabilities across its platform to deliver faster, actionable analytics for risk, regulatory and stakeholder-expectation decision-making.

New CTO brings track record scaling engineering teams at cybersecurity firms

Sinnema previously served as VP of Engineering at Eye Security, which the company describes as Europe's fastest-growing cybersecurity firm, where he built the product and engineering organization from scratch, tripled the size of its multi-site international team, and contributed to a EUR60 million Series C funding round. He spent over three years at HackerOne, the global ethical hacking and bug bounty platform, where he was promoted to Director of Engineering. Earlier, Sinnema founded SmartLockr, a secure communications and privacy protection platform, and served as its CTO, self-funding its growth across three countries before it joined Microsoft's Ventures Accelerator program in Berlin.

Leadership frames hire as pivot from ESG management to AI governance platform

Marjella Lecourt-Alma, CEO and co-founder of Datamaran, said Sinnema's founder-level experience in building engineering teams and technology positions him to shape the company's next phase as it transitions from ESG issue management toward an AI-powered governance platform.
