Cyphlens Ships Encryption That Hides Contract Terms From AI

New York – October 14, 2026 -- Cyphlens has made in-document encryption generally available, letting AI tools read a contract while the confidential terms inside it stay unreadable. The company was also named a 2026 Gartner Cool Vendor in the "Coolest Vendor Innovations in Data Security" report.

Cyphlens replaces selected document regions with ciphertext in place

In one example, AI reviewing a customer agreement can find the renewal deadline but sees a cipher where the negotiated price would be. Only an authorized person can reveal the protected information.

The file remains an ordinary Word or PDF, with no encrypted container. Each protected region carries its own recipients, so one document can disclose different content to different readers. The capability is applied through a Cyphlens skill for Claude.

CypherFile encrypts whole files up to one terabyte on the sender's device

Cyphlens also protects entire files of up to one terabyte under the same control. Teams share them through their existing channels. File content never touches Cyphlens servers, because CypherFile encrypts and decrypts on the sender's own devices.

Senders keep control after sharing. Revoking access makes a copy permanently inaccessible wherever it traveled, because every open is checked before content is revealed.

Salesforce Ventures partner frames granular access as the next security layer

Cyphlens CEO Rocky Motwani said security used to assume the person opening a document was the one reading it, and that this assumption no longer holds.

Rob Keith, Partner at Salesforce Ventures, said security will increasingly center on granular access: "what each reader, human or AI, is able to see." He said Cyphlens is building that control layer, giving organizations governance over sensitive data after a file leaves their hands.

Gartner states that it does not endorse any vendor depicted in its publications and that its research reflects opinion, not statements of fact.
