Tsinghua Report: Grid, Financing Gaps Slow Global Carbon Neutrality

Beijing – September 24, 2026 -- Wind, solar, energy storage and electric vehicles are expanding rapidly worldwide, but grid integration limits, high financing costs and market-mechanism gaps are constraining the pace of the global carbon neutrality transition, according to the 2026 Global Carbon Neutrality Annual Progress Report launched at Tsinghua University on September 22.

Report tracks 198 countries and regions across 200 indicators

The report, presented by Tsinghua University professor Wang Can, draws on more than 200 indicators to assess progress toward carbon neutrality across 198 countries and regions, identifying the drivers and constraints shaping the transition. The launch coincided with the fifth anniversary of Tsinghua's Institute for Carbon Neutrality (ICON), the sixth anniversary of China's "dual carbon" goals, and the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan period.

Centron, Tsinghua University Ink R&D Pact on Dispensing Tech

Wuxi – September 19, 2026 -- Centron signed an industry-academia-research cooperation agreement with Professor Zhang Xiangyu's team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Tsinghua University, targeting process-consistency challenges in adhesive dispensing for manufacturing lines.

Agreement signed at Xishan Technology Transfer Conference in Wuxi

The deal was formalized on Sept. 15, 2026, during the 2026 Xishan Technology Transfer Conference, under the Xishan-Tsinghua industry-academia collaboration program. The framework operates on a model where enterprises raise production-floor questions, universities apply research-based methods, and market application tests the results.
