Mexico Adds Second C-130J-30 Super Hercules, Doubling Airlift Capacity

Bethesda, Md. – September 30, 2026 -- The Fuerza Aérea Mexicana (FAM) has acquired a second Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules tactical airlifter, doubling the response capacity it gained from its first aircraft purchase announced in January 2026.

Mexico becomes a two-aircraft Super Hercules operator within a single year

The January 2026 acquisition made Mexico the first Latin American nation to join the global Super Hercules fleet, which now exceeds 570 aircraft worldwide. The second aircraft continues the FAM's recapitalization of its legacy Hercules fleet, a platform it has operated for more than five decades.

The system will be installed at the Swiss National Supercomputing Centre (CSCS) in Lugano and powered by IBM's most advanced processor, the Quantum Nighthawk. IBM will operate the machine, while ETH Zurich provides expertise, resources and technologies to Swiss industries, startups and academia, including direct access to the hardware.
