Burbank, Calif. – September 30, 2026 -- CJ 4DPLEX and Cinemark Holdings will add 20 new SCREENX auditoriums across the Americas, with 17 installations in the U.S. and three in South and Central America, the companies announced.
Six U.S. sites open in 2026, lifting Cinemark's domestic SCREENX count to 30
The rollout expands a partnership that began in 2022, with six of the new U.S. auditoriums scheduled to open in 2026. That timing brings Cinemark's total domestic SCREENX footprint to 30 locations ahead of the release of Avengers: Doomsday, and introduces the panoramic format to new U.S. states for the first time.
Cinemark's Playa Vista theater joins the network, targeting Los Angeles studio audiences
Don Savant, President and CEO of CJ 4DPLEX Americas, said the Playa Vista installation gives studio executives, filmmakers and talent on the Westside of Los Angeles direct access to the format. Cinemark operates nearly 500 theaters and more than 5,500 screens across 42 U.S. states and 13 South and Central American countries.
CJ 4DPLEX plans at least four 'Shot for SCREENX' films with major studios in 2027
Jun Bang, CEO of CJ 4DPLEX, pointed to the performance of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the company's first film produced specifically for the SCREENX format, as validation for content built around the technology. Sean Gamble, Cinemark's President and CEO, said the expansion adds to the company's premium amenities portfolio, which also includes Cinemark XD, Luxury Lounger recliners and D-BOX motion seating.
