C Speed Rebrands as Protora, Launches Three Radar Product Lines

Syracuse, N.Y. and Titusville, Fla. – September 11, 2026 -- C Speed, backed by NewSpring Holdings Federal, has renamed itself Protora, unveiling a new corporate identity alongside three mission-specific radar product lines: RushLight, DomeWatcher and WingWatcher.

Rebrand marks shift from custom builds to scaled product lines

The name change caps 20 years of radar and surveillance development for the Department of War, the Department of Homeland Security and international partners. Protora says the rebrand reflects its evolution from bespoke, mission-specific radar engineering toward delivering proven capabilities at commercial scale for defense, homeland security and allied customers.

Three radar systems target border, base and airborne surveillance gaps

RushLight is a 1 kW trailer-mounted radar deployable in under 10 minutes with a standard tow vehicle, aimed at border security and fast-moving threat coverage. DomeWatcher is a high-power, 3D ground tower radar for base defense and critical infrastructure protection, with optional EO/IR, ELINT and counter-UAS payloads. WingWatcher is a 10 kW aerostat radar offering over-the-horizon coverage from altitude, with optional Link 16 and GMTI kits, giving operators an additional 10 to 20 minutes for time-sensitive decisions.

LightWave software-defined core anchors all three platforms

Each system runs on LightWave, Protora's software-defined radar core, which supports native ASTERIX and STANAG data standards, remote and unattended operation, and a rated mean time between failures of 13,800 hours. LightWave is manufactured in the United States.

"Protora is not a new company. It's the identity we have grown into from a mission we started 20 years ago," said Dave Abel, CEO of Protora. "RushLight, DomeWatcher and WingWatcher give our allies eyes on the ground, at the base, and in the air."

NewSpring Holdings frames rebrand around U.S. and allied mission priorities

Andy Maner, NewSpring Holdings Operating Partner and Protora Chairman of the Board, said the new brand is built to support U.S. mission priorities alongside allies and partners abroad, with each product line now carrying a defined name and mission behind it.
