San Diego – September 22, 2026 -- BRIJ Medical reported zero documented cases of wound dehiscence, infection, allergic dermatitis, adhesive-related skin injury or wound-related reoperation across a 100-case retrospective study of its Brijjit Force-Modulating Tissue Bridges in sports medicine incision management.
Single-surgeon study spans three years of orthopedic procedures
The study, published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Experience & Innovation (Volume 7, Issue 2), evaluated 100 consecutive outpatient sports medicine procedures performed by a single surgeon, John A. Grotting, MD, between January 2023 and December 2025. Cases spanned ACL, knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle procedures, with co-author Ege Karadag.
Device offloads up to 100% of incision tension during early mobility
Brijjit is designed to actively offload incision tension by up to 100%, targeting the mechanical stress placed on healing wounds as patients resume movement and rehabilitation protocols. The study was designed to test whether the device could reduce allergic reactions tied to cyanoacrylate closure while supporting incisions through early healing.
Two early detachments occurred without complications or rehab disruption
Patients tolerated the device without reported restrictions in range of motion or need to alter bracing or rehabilitation protocols. Two device detachments occurred during the study's early learning curve, but neither resulted in complications or disrupted rehabilitation.
Findings expand BRIJ Medical's clinical evidence base into orthopedics
The publication extends BRIJ Medical's clinical data beyond prior applications into sports medicine and orthopedic incision management. Dr. Grotting described the device as an "easy-to-use insurance policy" that secures surgical work while maintaining existing surgical and rehabilitation protocols.
Dr. Felmont "Monte" Eaves, BRIJ Medical's Founder and Chief Medical Officer, said the company remains focused on building further evidence around the technology, with additional data expected.
