Arlington, Va. – September 16, 2026 -- Bloomberg Tax & Accounting has projected a 3.2% inflation increase for 2027, up from the 2.7% rise recorded for 2026, according to its newly released 2027 Projected U.S. Tax Rates report.

Bureau of Labor Statistics data gap forces 11-month calculation method

The Bureau of Labor Statistics failed to report October 2025 data, an unprecedented lapse that required Bloomberg Tax to compute the Chained Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (C-CPI-U) using an 11-month average instead of the standard 12-month period.

One Big Beautiful Bill Act reshapes corporate and individual thresholds

The report incorporates adjustments tied to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), including a revised employer-provided child care credit and an updated threshold for information-at-source reporting requirements, both of which were initially expanded under the legislation. For individual taxpayers, the projections show varied income tax rate movements, with steeper adjustments applied to lower income brackets than in prior years.

Bloomberg Tax head cites growing complexity in professional planning

"Tax professionals are being asked to make consequential planning decisions amid constant policy change and growing complexity," said Evan Croen, head of Bloomberg Tax & Accounting. "By providing trusted projections before official figures are released and carrying those updates directly into the tools where professionals work, we can help them move from information to action sooner and spend more time applying their expertise to the decisions that matter most."

Projected figures feed directly into Bloomberg's corporate tax software suite

The updated 2027 rates are integrated into Bloomberg Tax Provision, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, and Bloomberg Tax Workpapers, allowing corporate tax teams to run forward-looking calculations ahead of official IRS confirmation. The report also details year-over-year comparisons for individual income tax rate brackets, standard deduction amounts, and Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT) thresholds between 2026 and 2027.
