The facility features full-size, two-story homes built with a range of construction materials and finishes, from standard-grade components to higher-end materials. Claim adjusters inspect both exterior and interior damage, gaining exposure to the variety of home types and repair considerations they encounter in the field.
Cutaway Wall Sections Reveal Hidden Damage Behind Framing And Plumbing
Adjusters use cutaway wall sections to trace how damage travels through framing, insulation and plumbing, paired with interactive digital tools that display damage patterns and repair techniques. Module-based training covers roofing, water damage, cabinetry, plumbing, electrical and sump-pump systems.
Training Covers Water, Fire, Storm And Lightning Damage Categories
The lab recreates scenarios including burst pipes, water intrusion, leaking appliances and drain backups; roof, hail and storm-related exterior damage such as skylight leaks; fire, smoke and grease-fire damage, including fire-related siding damage; and lightning-related damage to HVAC units and electrical components.
Allstate Chief Claims Officer Says Training Targets Hidden Damage Cases
Mike Fiato, executive vice president and chief claims officer at Allstate, said the Property Lab gives claims teams hands-on experience with real-world damage scenarios. "Customers trust Allstate during some of the most stressful moments they face as homeowners," Fiato said, adding that the training helps adjusters provide informed guidance when visible damage is only part of the story.
Adjusters Assess Hidden Damage Before Reviewing Coverage With Homeowners
During a property claim inspection, an Allstate adjuster assesses both visible and potential hidden damage, evaluates how damage originated and spread through a home's structure, reviews applicable coverage and guides the homeowner through repair options and next steps.
