ZDF Swaps Friday 1 a.m. Slot For Viking Documentary Rerun

SHERIDAN, WYOMING -- August 28, 2026 -- ZDF replaced its scheduled 1:00 a.m. broadcast slot on Friday, Aug. 28, with a rerun of "Terra X History: Nordmänner – Die wahre Geschichte der Wikinger," a 2025 German production that first aired on the network on May 10, 2026. The public broadcaster confirmed the swap in a programming notice issued at 2:55 p.m. on Aug. 28 through news aktuell. The originally planned repeat of "Terra X History: Was ist deutsch? Die Geschichte der Migration" was dropped from the lineup entirely. ZDF said the rest of Friday's broadcast day continues as planned starting at 1:45 a.m.

ZDF Drops Migration History Repeat From Lineup

ZDF confirmed the repeat of "Terra X History: Was ist deutsch? Die Geschichte der Migration" will not air in the revised Friday schedule. No replacement program was named for that specific slot beyond the Viking documentary swap at 1:00 a.m. ZDF-Planung, the network's scheduling department, issued the notice as the point of contact for the change.

The rest of Friday's schedule stands unchanged.

Viking Documentary Airs With HD And Subtitle Support

The rescheduled broadcast carries a VPS start time of 12:59 a.m., runs in HD, and includes subtitles, according to the notice. "Nordmänner" belongs to ZDF's Terra X History strand, the broadcaster's recurring documentary format covering historical topics including Vikings and migration. The film originally aired on ZDF on May 10, 2026.

That's a slot swap, not a lineup overhaul.

The notice, distributed from Mainz, listed ZDF-Planung as the sole press contact for questions on the change.
