Rochester, N.Y. – October 12, 2026 -- Vuzix Corporation (NASDAQ: VUZI) has demonstrated 19,200 parallel optical pathways across an approximately 30 mm optical path on its Vuzix Causeway waveguide evaluation platform, and is now offering evaluation units to qualified partners exploring optical interconnects for AI data centers.
Vuzix Causeway routes thousands of optical channels through a compact substrate
The platform applies proprietary waveguide technology to route thousands of parallel optical pathways through a compact substrate. Vuzix targets co-packaged optics (CPO), near-package optics (NPO) and AI computing applications. Future communications implementations are projected to support multi-terabit aggregate bandwidth, subject to source, detector and system integration performance.
Waveguide structures can be tailored to source wavelength and illumination approach for custom architectures using microLED or VCSEL sources.
Engineers can test optical loss, crosstalk, channel density and alignment
Qualified partners will use the units to characterize optical performance and assess integration requirements. Evaluation covers optical loss, crosstalk, channel density, and coupling and alignment. Vuzix says the results are intended to inform potential custom optical designs and future manufacturing, drawing on its existing waveguide design and U.S.-based production capabilities.
Paul Travers, President and CEO, said Vuzix brings nearly two decades of waveguide development, custom optical design and high-precision nanoimprint replication, and aims to move partners from evaluation to custom interconnect designs manufactured at its Rochester, New York facility.
Vuzix schedules partner meetings at OCP Global Summit and PECC Summit
Vuzix is participating in the 2026 OCP Global Summit, held October 12-15 in San Jose, California. It will host meetings with AI data center, semiconductor, photonics and advanced packaging companies. Meetings for OCP attendees can be arranged for Wednesday, October 14 or Thursday, October 15 through Warren Russell.
The company will then join the PECC Summit, the Optica+APC Photonic-Enabled Cloud Computing Summit, on October 20-21 at the HPE Aspiration Dome in Sunnyvale, California. The event gathers photonics supply chain leaders to address optics deployment in AI and cloud infrastructure, including optical interconnects, packaging, manufacturing and scale-up challenges.
