VfL Osnabrück, Terre des Hommes Launch Deposit-Cup Charity Drive

Osnabrück – September 11, 2026 -- German second-division football club VfL Osnabrück and children's rights organization Terre des Hommes will stage a joint fundraising action day around the September 13 home match against Hertha BSC at the Bremer Brücke stadium, tying the event to World Children's Day on September 20.

Fans Asked to Donate Stadium Deposit Cups or Give Online

The campaign centers on a deposit-cup collection scheme, where match attendees can donate their returnable stadium cups or contribute funds through an online channel. Terre des Hommes will also operate an information stand at the venue throughout the match day.

Partnership Marks Fifth Year of Pro Bono Visibility Support

VfL Osnabrück and Terre des Hommes have maintained a premium partnership for five years, under which the club provides the organization with pro bono exposure spanning social media placements to stadium hoarding boards. The two parties have jointly run recurring campaigns, including fundraising efforts tied to humanitarian aid and peace initiatives.

Organization Cites Global Barriers to Children's Play

Terre des Hommes board spokesperson Joshua Hofert said millions of children worldwide lack safe spaces and time to play, with poverty often forcing them into labor instead. VfL Osnabrück managing director Dr. Michael Welling said proceeds from the donation drive will fund safe play and protection spaces, sports and movement programs, and mental resilience initiatives delivered through athletics.
