Farnborough – October 18, 2026 -- De Havilland Aircraft of Canada has received European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for the Twin Otter Classic 300-G, clearing deliveries to operators across Europe and other regions that recognize EASA approval.
Zimex Aviation flies first EASA-certified Classic 300-G in commercial service
The first EASA-certified aircraft has already been delivered to Switzerland-based Zimex Aviation, which is the launch customer and first operator. The aircraft is in commercial operation.
Zimex is a long-time Twin Otter operator. It uses the aircraft for global operations that include humanitarian aid, government support, cargo transport and special mission flying in remote environments.
Garmin G1000 NXi flight deck and lower empty weight define the upgrade
The Classic 300-G builds on more than five decades of Twin Otter service. It adds the Garmin G1000 NXi integrated flight deck, updated systems, reduced empty weight and OEM-backed product support. De Havilland Canada says the aircraft retains the short takeoff and landing (STOL) performance of earlier models.
The manufacturer says the modifications improve reliability, maintainability and operational capability.
De Havilland Canada targets government, commercial and special mission buyers
The certification widens availability to operators seeking a modern utility aircraft for remote communities, commercial fleets, governments and special mission work. Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales at De Havilland Canada, said the approval expands opportunities for operators in Europe and beyond.
Daniele Cereghetti, CEO of Zimex Aviation, said the Classic 300-G adds modern technology and improved efficiency to the aircraft's established characteristics. Zimex plans to use it to support customers worldwide.
