Barcelona – October 19, 2026 -- Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC) will bring more than 240 experts from cities, governments and companies to Fira de Barcelona's Gran Via venue from 3-5 November, with senior European Commission and Spanish government officials among the headline speakers.

Fira de Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, co-organise the event. Its stated aim is to accelerate the shift to sustainable urban mobility.

Brussels and Madrid officials headline the speaker line-up

Axel Volkery, Head of the Innovation and Urban Mobility unit at the European Commission's DG MOVE, will discuss how public transport must adapt to changing user habits to stay attractive, accessible and relevant. Teresa Riesgo, Spain's Secretary General for Innovation and President of the CDTI, will join a roundtable on how mobility innovators can navigate an era of uncertainty. Mobility author Lukas Neckermann, co-founder of the Urban Places Lab, is also on the bill.

Other confirmed speakers are Daryl Barron, Lord Mayor of Dublin; Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS; Lisandro Perotti, Undersecretary for Mobility Management and Control of Buenos Aires; Toks Omishakin, Secretary of the California State Transportation Agency; and Tanja Dik, CEO of the Johan Cruijff Arena.

EIT survey finds 56% of commuters use public transport, ahead of cars at 52%

EIT Urban Mobility surveyed 1,503 adults in Barcelona, Munich and Bucharest. Public transport users are twice as likely to include walking in their journey. Respondents rated safety, reliability and comfort as most important.

The widest gaps between expectation and experience are traffic density for car users and service reliability for public transport users. Some 41% of respondents say they feel completely drained when they arrive home.

Congress runs alongside four events with 1,100 exhibitors and 27,000 attendees

TMWC will be held together with Smart City Expo World Congress, Tomorrow.Blue Economy, the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit and the Barcelona Cybersecurity Congress. The five events together expect more than 1,100 exhibitors and over 27,000 attendees.
