Proxima Fusion, Fujikura Plan German HTS Tape Plant in Lower Saxony

Munich/Tokyo – October 29, 2026 -- Proxima Fusion and Japan's Fujikura signed a memorandum of understanding to explore industrial-scale production of high-temperature superconductor (HTS) tape in Germany, anchored by planned demand of 60,000 kilometers from Proxima's own fusion projects. The MoU was signed in Tokyo in the presence of German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.

The production site is planned for Lower Saxony. The plant is meant to close a central gap in Europe's fusion supply chain, since HTS tape is currently made mostly outside Europe.

Envision Targets 20% Lower Mining Energy Costs With AI Power System

Melbourne – October 29, 2026 -- Envision Energy has unveiled an AI-powered hybrid energy system for mining and smelting that targets about 20% lower overall energy costs, a renewable electricity share above 80% and supply reliability exceeding 99.95%. The company presented the system at All Energy Australia. Results depend on local resources, system configuration and production requirements.

System couples wind, solar and storage with AI dispatch for remote sites

The package combines wind, solar, battery storage, and gas turbines intended to run on green hydrogen or green ammonia. An integrated dispatch and control system ties these together. Envision aims it at remote mining sites with weak or no grid connections, where affordable and reliable green power is hardest to secure.

Purecore Report Flags Uranium Deficits as AI Power Demand Climbs

VANCOUVER – October 28, 2026 -- Purecore Metals Inc. (CSE: PURE) has published a report that cites Sprott scenarios of cumulative uranium supply deficits of roughly 700 million to 1.7 billion pounds of U3O8 through 2040. The report, titled Uranium and the AI Power Boom, sets those scenarios against rising electricity consumption from artificial intelligence and data centre infrastructure.

It draws on the IEA, IAEA, U.S. Energy Information Administration, Sprott Asset Management and Cameco. The central argument is a timing mismatch: AI infrastructure is built quickly, while new uranium mines take far longer to bring into production.

China leads 16-nation electrification index as US risks stalling

LONDON – October 27, 2026 -- China holds the highest electrification deployment score among 16 countries assessed in a new index, while the US risks losing momentum and several large European economies have yet to turn policy into delivery.

The Electrification Competitiveness Index, developed by the We Mean Business Coalition with support from RMI, measures electrification delivery on the ground alongside the enabling conditions needed for further progress. Those factors indicate how ready each economy is for businesses to electrify operations. Across most countries, policy and other enablers run ahead of actual deployment.

Pepco Approves ConnectDER Meter Adapters for Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. – October 19, 2026 -- ConnectDER's full line of meter socket adapters is now approved for installation across Pepco's service territory in Washington, D.C., a market where 100-amp panels can force main service upgrades costing $1,800 to $5,800 before solar, storage or EV charging equipment can be connected. D.C. becomes the 54th utility in ConnectDER's network, which reaches nearly 40 million households.

The approval covers three products: the Solar MSA, the EV MSA and the IslandDER MSA. Each adapter plugs into the existing meter socket on the outside of the home. According to the company, this avoids main panel upgrades, service upsizing, circuit relocations, backup load panels and system controllers.
