Ozempic Dose Escalation Cuts Cardiovascular Risk 6% Versus Mounjaro Switch

Plainsboro, N.J. – – September 29, 2026 -- Novo Nordisk reported that adults with type 2 diabetes who escalated their semaglutide dose to 2 mg showed a statistically significant 6% lower risk of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) compared with patients who switched to tirzepatide, according to real-world data presented at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting 2026 in Milan.

Retrospective analysis covers 636,525 patients on semaglutide 1 mg

The COMPETE SWITCH Cardiovascular study used Komodo Health's Healthcare Map claims database, spanning January 2018 to September 2025, to compare outcomes for patients escalating from semaglutide 1 mg to 2 mg against those switching to tirzepatide at doses up to 15 mg. The cardiovascular cohort included 185,705 adults who escalated to semaglutide 2 mg and 23,104 who switched to tirzepatide, tracked via an intention-to-treat approach for death, heart attack, and stroke.

Lilly's Foundayo Outperforms Oral Semaglutide 25 mg in New Diabetes Data

Indianapolis – September 29, 2026 -- Eli Lilly and Company (NYSE: LLY) reported that its oral GLP-1 drug Foundayo (orforglipron) at 17.2 mg produced 1.5% greater weight loss and 0.3% greater A1C reduction than oral semaglutide 25 mg over 52 weeks in adults with type 2 diabetes, based on an indirect treatment comparison presented at the 62nd Annual Meeting of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes in Milan.

Indirect analysis draws on ACHIEVE-3 and PIONEER PLUS trial data

The comparison, covariate-adjusted for gender, age, baseline A1C and baseline weight, found weight-loss differences ranging from 1.5% to 2.4% and A1C reductions of 0.3% to 0.6% in favor of Foundayo 17.2 mg across multiple statistical methods. The 95% confidence interval for weight loss was -2.7% to -0.2%, and for A1C reduction was -0.6% to -0.1%.

IASO Bio's RD140 CAR-T Hits 88.9% Response Rate in Myeloma Trial

Shanghai – September 26, 2026 -- IASO Biotechnology reported an 88.9% objective response rate for its dual-targeted CAR-T therapy RD140 in a first-in-human Phase 1 trial of nine heavily pretreated multiple myeloma and plasma cell leukemia patients, with the response rate reaching 100% in the higher-dose cohort.

RD140 achieves 88.9% MRD negativity in high-risk relapsed patients

The investigator-initiated trial (NCT06655519), led by Professor Jin Lu of Peking University People's Hospital, enrolled patients who had failed at least three prior lines of therapy, including two who had previously received BCMA-targeted treatment. All nine patients were triple-class exposed, and six were penta-exposed. As of the September 26, 2026 data cutoff, with a median follow-up of 6.05 months, 88.9% of patients achieved MRD negativity at the 10−5 threshold, with six reaching this benchmark as early as day 28. Median progression-free survival has not been reached.

IASO Bio Data Link CAR-T Persistence to Sustained MRD Negativity

Shanghai – September 26, 2026 -- A retrospective analysis of 102 multiple myeloma patients treated with IASO Bio's FUCASO CAR-T therapy found that patients maintaining sustained minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity showed a median CAR-T cell persistence of 463 days, compared with 272 days in patients who experienced MRD conversion — a gap of roughly 191 days. The data, drawn from the pivotal FUMANBA-1 registration study, were presented as a poster (Abstract No. PA-469) at the 2026 International Myeloma Society Annual Meeting.

Disease-modifying therapies and biologics drive current market expansion

Rising MS prevalence, improved diagnostic capabilities, and growing adoption of immunomodulators, immunosuppressants, interferons, oral disease-modifying therapies (DMTs), and monoclonal antibodies are fueling demand across relapsing-remitting (RRMS), primary progressive (PPMS), secondary progressive (SPMS), and clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patient segments. High-efficacy biologics and oral treatment options are increasingly displacing older therapy classes as patients and physicians prioritize convenience and disease-progression control.
