Dublin – October 29, 2026 -- Temu plans to invest about $200 million in compliance and quality assurance worldwide in 2026, twice its 2025 spending, as it adds in-house product testing laboratories inside its logistics partners' warehouses.
Bureau Veritas confirms the labs can run defined European-standard tests
Bureau Veritas audited the labs' testing equipment, premises, technical staff, workflows and quality assurance systems. It confirmed the labs meet the technical requirements for the intended tests under selected European standards.
The audit is not a product certification. Temu said the warehouse labs complement independent third-party testing and do not replace sellers' legal responsibility for product compliance.
Warehouse labs spot-check electrical, textile and toy products before shipping
The labs have started work and run random sample checks on selected products. Tests cover electrical safety of electrical devices, quality of textiles, and compliance with applicable toy safety standards.
Temu is integrating the tests into its fulfillment process to catch compliance problems before selected products reach customers. The checks add to existing pre-listing controls and ongoing post-sale monitoring.
Temu and Bureau Veritas have worked together since 2023 across six product categories
Their cooperation covers product testing, random sampling, third-party testing for sellers and seller training. Categories include textiles, electrical and electronic devices, beauty and personal care, food-contact materials, personal protective equipment and jewelry.
A Bureau Veritas spokesperson said Temu's teams have invested considerable time and commitment in expanding product testing.
Temu works with more than 60 independent testing institutes and eyes further lab partners
Beyond the warehouse labs, Temu cooperates with over 60 independent testing institutes worldwide. It is also examining further partnerships with testing organizations to expand its lab capacity.
The company has widened seller training, including a recently announced series that connects sellers with testing and compliance experts for guidance on legal requirements, product testing and certification.
