Teleste Launches Ultra-Low-Power E-Paper Displays for Transit

Turku, Finland – September 19, 2026 -- Teleste has expanded its passenger information portfolio with a new outdoor e-paper display family that cuts energy consumption by up to 50% compared with comparable battery-powered e-paper solutions on the market.

Battery-powered displays can operate for up to 10 years without replacement

Depending on system configuration and operating profile, the displays support a battery lifetime of up to 10 years, running on battery or solar power. This lets public transport operators deploy real-time passenger information at remote and temporary stops that previously lacked power infrastructure or wired connectivity.

Bonded e-paper structure delivers outdoor readability and low lifecycle costs

The displays use a patent-pending intelligent energy management architecture combined with a bonded e-paper structure, designed for continuous outdoor use in a compact form factor. Content updates wirelessly via mobile networks, and because of the e-paper technology, information stays visible even when power is not continuously supplied.

Claudio Borrello, Business Director for Display Solutions at Teleste, said the company prioritized long battery life, a compact and user-friendly design, and easy integration in developing the product line, calling e-paper an increasingly important technology for delivering real-time passenger information.

Teleste Hub platform centralizes management across display types

The new e-paper displays integrate with Teleste Hub, the company's centralized content management platform, allowing operators to manage e-paper units alongside other passenger information technologies through a single workflow. Teleste also offers APIs for operators seeking to integrate the displays into existing content management ecosystems, and the displays are available in multiple sizes for standalone or integrated deployment.

Teleste will showcase the e-paper display family at InnoTrans 2026 in Hall 2.1, Stand 520. The company reported net sales of EUR 138.6 million in 2025 with approximately 630 employees, and is listed on Nasdaq Helsinki.
