Samsung Biologics Hits 'Negligible Risk' in Sustainalytics ESG Rating

Incheon – November 03, 2026 -- Samsung Biologics (KRX: 207940.KS) has earned an ESG Risk Rating score of 9.0 from Morningstar Sustainalytics, placing the contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) among the top 0.5% of companies assessed in the pharmaceuticals industry.

Samsung Biologics moves from 'Low Risk' to the lowest of five risk categories

The company advanced to 'Negligible Risk' from its previous 'Low Risk' rating. Under Sustainalytics' methodology, scores below 10 indicate a negligible level of unmanaged ESG risk, and lower scores reflect lower overall risk.

Morningstar Sustainalytics, an independent ESG research and ratings provider, assesses approximately 16,000 companies worldwide. It measures their exposure to material ESG risks and how effectively those risks are managed.

Samsung Biologics cites audits, safety, quality and ethics measures behind the upgrade

The company has implemented initiatives to enhance environmental auditing, occupational health and safety, quality management, and business ethics. It has also reinforced internal processes and oversight to identify and address potential risks.

CEO John Rim said the rating shows progress in embedding responsible practices across the business. He added that the company will keep a "disciplined approach" to risk management as it expands its global operations.

Sustainalytics upgrade follows MSCI 'A' rating and EcoVadis Platinum award

The result follows Samsung Biologics' 'A' rating in the 2026 MSCI ESG Ratings assessment. Earlier this year, the company received the EcoVadis Platinum Sustainability Rating, placing it among the top 1% of companies assessed globally.
