Raytheon Wins $729M for LIDS Counter-Drone Systems in U.S., Qatar, Jordan

Tucson – October 13, 2026 -- Raytheon, an RTX business, was awarded $729 million to deliver key components of the LIDS counter-drone system to the U.S. Army, Qatar and Jordan. The contracts include the first international sales of both the Ku-band Radio Frequency Sensor (KuRFS) and the Coyote effector.

LIDS contract covers fixed-site and mobile configurations

LIDS, the Low, slow, small, unmanned aircraft Integrated Defeat System, incorporates KuRFS and Coyote. The award includes a mix of fixed-site and mobile LIDS configurations.

KuRFS provides 360-degree threat detection within the U.S. Army's LIDS program. Coyote's low-cost kinetic and non-kinetic effectors defeat individual drones as well as swarms, and have recorded hundreds of intercepts in combat.

Raytheon accelerates Coyote production to meet surge in global demand

Raytheon is accelerating production of the Coyote family of effectors to meet what the company describes as a surge in global demand. Tom Laliberty, president of Land and Air Defense Systems at Raytheon, said LIDS gives allied forces a proven, cost-effective layer of defense against hostile drones.

RTX funds Coyote upgrades for speed, range and altitude

RTX is investing to expand production and integrate new technologies into the Coyote interceptor. Planned capability upgrades include faster launch times, higher speeds, and greater range at higher altitudes.
