San Jose – October 19, 2026 -- PUFsecurity, a subsidiary of eMemory Technology, has received OCP S.A.F.E. approval for its PUFrt root-of-trust IP after an independent Scope 3 security assessment, and the product is now listed on the OCP Marketplace.
The company presented PUFrt at Microsoft's Caliptra Workshop on October 12, the opening day of the sold-out 2026 OCP Global Summit. The workshop drew nearly 400 attendees. Principal Security Architect Kent Chuang spoke on moving the open-source Caliptra specification into production-ready silicon for AI data centers.
PUFrt completes Scope 3 assessment focused on physical attacks
PUFrt completed its Scope 3 assessment in 2026. The review tested its resistance to physical threats, including fault injection and side-channel attacks. The OCP S.A.F.E. program offers a standardized, independent security review framework for hardware and software, which helps customers avoid repeated security assessments.
Physical-attack resistance matters most for silicon roots of trust because the cryptographic keys and device secrets they protect underpin higher-level security functions.
PUFrt anchors Caliptra with NeoPUF, NeoFuse and NIST-compliant entropy
Caliptra is an open-source hardware root-of-trust architecture developed under the Open Compute Project (OCP). It gives every chip in cloud servers a verifiable identity and a trusted boot path. PUFrt supplies the physical security layer, from key generation to chip mass-production testing.
PUFrt integrates three components:
- eMemory's NeoPUF technology, which generates chip-specific Unique Device Secrets (UDS)
- NeoFuse anti-fuse one-time programmable (OTP) memory for on-chip data storage
- An entropy source compliant with NIST SP 800-90B
PUFrt is already integrated into Caliptra products from ASPEED, a provider of server management chips (BMC/SMC). It is also used in security systems from several major memory manufacturers and in networking-related chips.
PUFrt supports Caliptra 1.x and 2.x on advanced nodes through a one-stop service
PUFrt fully supports Caliptra 1.x and 2.x silicon IP requirements on advanced process nodes. Through PUFsecurity's "One-Stop-Shop Service," chip design teams can access a pre-validated Caliptra and PUFrt solution. It covers verification, certification support and end-to-end engineering guidance, and the company says it shortens the development-to-mass-production timeline.
PUFsecurity says data center security architectures are shifting from proprietary, closed systems toward standardized, open-source architectures such as Caliptra. The shift is driven by Agentic AI workloads capable of autonomous decision-making.
