Profound Medical Targets 6 TULSA Procedures Daily With New Software

Toronto – October 12, 2026 -- Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ:PROF; TSX:PRN) has introduced new Treatment Delivery Console (TDC) software that it says provides a roadmap for surgeons to perform up to six TULSA Procedures per system per day, up from a reported maximum of four among a few physicians today.

Software rolls out across the TULSA-PRO installed base

The update is being deployed across Profound's TULSA-PRO installed base. It builds on earlier TULSA-AI modules aimed at raising procedural efficiency, improving physician experience and reducing planning complexity.

The release adds two feature sets. The first is real-time interventional MRI (iMRI) control. The second is a package of physician-requested improvements to the user interface and hardware control. Profound says both are designed to further increase TULSA Procedure efficiency and support regional ablation of tissue for a variety of prostate indications.

CEO Menawat ties throughput goal to shorter procedure times

Arun Menawat, Profound's CEO and Chairman, said the objective is to increase ease of use and reduce overall procedure times. He said a few TULSA physicians already report performing up to four procedures per day, and that many describe TULSA-PRO as one of the least stressful devices they use. The six-procedure figure is framed as a roadmap the company believes would allow surgeons to reach that volume, not as a demonstrated result.

Higher daily throughput per system bears directly on how customers can use their installed TULSA-PRO units. The source provides no pricing, utilization or revenue figures tied to the update.

Supervised robotic autonomy is the company's competitive claim

Menawat described TULSA as the only prostate treatment modality that deploys supervised robotic autonomy, in which the system executes predefined or AI-driven tasks independently. He contrasted this with competitive robotic systems that rely on direct, real-time human hand movement and control.

The real-time iMRI control puts the surgeon more squarely in the driver's seat of that autonomy, he said. This is intended to improve consistent, personalized prostate ablation based on each patient's anatomy and disease.

Menawat added that the approach may give Profound a stronger competitive advantage as prostate surgery moves toward its next potential frontier, including incisionless telesurgery. He presented this as a possibility, not a product plan.

TULSA-PRO is cleared by the FDA in the United States for transurethral ultrasound ablation of prostate tissue, and is also cleared in jurisdictions including Europe, Canada, Saudi Arabia, India, Australia/New Zealand and the UAE.
