Fabian succeeds Mathieu Burtnyk, who becomes Chief Technology Officer

Fabian replaces Mathieu Burtnyk, PhD, who shifts to the newly created CTO position. Burtnyk invented the patented closed-loop temperature feedback control algorithm used by the TULSA-PRO platform. He has also led the scientific design and execution of all of the company's clinical studies for the technology, including the ongoing Level 1 post-market CAPTAIN randomized controlled trial.

Fabian arrives from the CEO seat at FUJIFILM Sonosite

Fabian most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of FUJIFILM Sonosite, Inc., a point-of-care ultrasound company he joined in 2017. Before that, he held a series of roles at Philips Healthcare, starting in 2002 as Senior Director in the Cardiovascular X-ray Business Unit, North America. He advanced through executive positions in sales, marketing and global general management.

Earlier roles include VP, Sales at Noetix Corporation (now Magnitude Angles) and VP, Operations at STERIS Corporation. Fabian holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh's Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

CEO Menawat targets sharper execution while clinical development stays with Burtnyk

Arun Menawat, Profound's CEO and Chairman, said Fabian has a strong track record of delivering profitable growth at both established and emerging healthcare businesses. Menawat said he expects Fabian to help sharpen the company's overall execution. Continuing clinical innovation and development will remain with Burtnyk.

Fabian said the company is combining real-time MRI guidance and thermometry, artificial intelligence and supervised autonomous robotics for patients facing prostate disease and other conditions.
