Inc. hired Joel Berry II as a Financial Advisor to its Robinson Private Client Group in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, the firm announced on Aug. 31, 2026. Berry arrives from Truist Financial to expand the team's advisory work with current and former athletes navigating Name, Image and Likeness deals and revenue-sharing arrangements. The Robinson Private Client Group, led by Managing Director Tanner G. Robinson, oversaw more than $6 billion in client assets as of June 30, 2026.
Berry brings NCAA championship credentials to wealth management practice
Berry played four years as a starter and team captain for the University of North Carolina men's basketball team, helping the Tar Heels win the 2017 NCAA national championship and earning Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors. He later played professional basketball before transitioning into wealth management. Berry currently works as a commentator for the ACC Network alongside his advisory role.
Team targets athletes adjusting to NIL financial pressures
The Robinson Private Client Group advises high-net-worth individuals, families, elite athletes, institutions and corporations through a combination of investment management and financial planning. Berry has worked with professional players and high school and collegiate student-athletes managing new income streams created by NIL rules.
