Ontinue Launches Dark Web Monitoring Add-On for ION MXDR

Zurich – – October 06, 2026 -- Ontinue has launched ION for Dark Web Monitoring (DWM), a managed add-on to its ION MXDR service that identifies exposed credentials, brand impersonation, and emerging threats before they escalate into security incidents.

Only 19% of organizations continuously monitor and remediate credential exposure

Compromised credentials can surface on the dark web within 24 hours of a breach, yet reports cited by Ontinue show just 19% of organizations continuously monitor for such exposure and automatically remediate it. Most lack the visibility, expertise, and processes to detect and respond to these risks before attackers exploit them.

Service operationalizes threat intelligence rather than just generating alerts

ION for DWM continuously monitors customer-owned domains and brand assets across clear, deep, and dark web sources. Findings are validated and enriched through the ION SecOps Platform, feeding into Microsoft Sentinel where Ontinue's Cyber Defense Center analysts investigate alongside other security signals using existing automation and response workflows.

Key capabilities target credentials, typosquatting, and integrated response

The service continuously identifies exposed credentials tied to customer domains, detects typosquatting and brand impersonation domains used for phishing or fraud, and validates findings for severity before triggering approved response actions—automated or with customer oversight based on predefined rules of engagement.

IDC finds one in three MDR customers lack dark web monitoring

Yogesh Shivhare, Senior Research Manager for Security and Trust at IDC, said roughly one in three MDR customers globally still lack dark web monitoring as part of their service, a visibility gap at a time when pre-compromise intelligence increasingly separates early detection from late discovery. He noted that credential exposure, ransomware leak staging, and brand impersonation activity on dark web forums often precede or accompany active intrusions.

Epiq cites improved visibility from validated findings fed into managed operations

Jason Burzenski, Vice President and Global Head of Cyber Security at Epiq, said the service expands visibility beyond existing tools and brings validated findings into the managed security operations the company already relies on.

Moritz Mann, CEO of Ontinue, said the security perimeter no longer ends at the edge of the enterprise, and that most dark web monitoring solutions stop at detection while ION for DWM investigates findings and helps customers act before exposures become incidents.

ION for Dark Web Monitoring is built for Ontinue's Microsoft-first security operations model and is available immediately as an add-on for existing ION MXDR customers.
