Olympus Achieves Record Participation in Annual “Dress in Blue” Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Campaign

SHERIDAN, WYOMING – May 7, 2025 – Olympus Corporation, a global MedTech leader, has announced its most successful "Dress in Blue" campaign yet, marking a new milestone in its commitment to Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. With 6,810 employees from across the globe participating, this year’s campaign underscores Olympus’ ongoing dedication to reducing cancer-related deaths through awareness and early detection initiatives.

Record Participation in Global Campaign

This year, Olympus achieved an all-time high participation rate in the company-wide campaign, with employees joining from various regions, including Japan, the Americas, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), APAC (Asia-Pacific), and China. For the third consecutive year, the "Dress in Blue" campaign encouraged Olympus employees to wear blue, the color of colorectal cancer awareness, as a show of solidarity and support for the cause.

Employees were invited to take photos of themselves in blue attire and share them on the company's intranet and social media platforms. Each participant's photo prompted a donation from Olympus to cancer-related organizations around the world. The total donation amount reached approximately 2.74 million JPY (around $18,000), further reinforcing Olympus’ commitment to supporting colorectal cancer patients.

Regional Breakdown of Donations and Participation

The campaign's success can be attributed not only to the record number of participants but also to the strategic global outreach. Here’s a breakdown of the participation and donation contributions across different regions:

  • Japan: 2,036 participants, 500,000 JPY donated
  • Americas: 1,130 participants, 5,000 USD (approx. 715,700 JPY) donated
  • EMEA: 1,367 participants, 5,000 EUR (approx. 812,200 JPY) donated
  • APAC: 1,777 participants, 5,000 USD (approx. 715,700 JPY) donated
  • China: 500 participants, donations not applicable

Commitment to Patient-Centric Values

Olympus has long championed "Patient Focus" as one of its core values, and the Dress in Blue campaign is a natural extension of this commitment. Through such initiatives, the company aims to raise awareness of colorectal cancer and emphasize the importance of early detection and treatment. This initiative aligns with Olympus' broader mission of improving patient outcomes by supporting innovations in early diagnosis and minimally invasive treatments.

“We believe that by raising awareness and supporting global cancer-related initiatives, we can make a tangible impact in the fight against colorectal cancer,” said a spokesperson from Olympus. "This year’s record-breaking participation shows how deeply our employees care about this cause and underscores the strength of our company’s culture of compassion and community."
