Ipswich, Mass. – October 15, 2026 -- New England Biolabs (NEB) has secured co-exclusive rights to sell seqWell's TnX Transposase and the right to manufacture the enzyme and include it in NEB kits and products, under a strategic partnership announced alongside the commercial launch of TnX Transposase (Unloaded).
NEB gains sales and manufacturing rights under the agreement
The deal gives NEB two rights: co-exclusive sales of TnX Transposase, and manufacturing of TnX for incorporation into its own kits. seqWell keeps selling TnX-based library preparation kits through its own channel.
NEB cites more than 50 years of enzyme manufacturing and quality control as its contribution. seqWell supplies the engineered enzyme and its transposase expertise.
TnX Transposase (Unloaded) ships without preloaded adaptors
TnX is an engineered transposase variant that performs tagmentation once loaded with mosaic end adaptors. Tagmentation is a single-step process in which nucleic acid fragmentation and adaptor insertion occur simultaneously, which supports shorter processing times and fewer cleanup steps.
Because the enzyme is supplied without preloaded DNA adaptors, researchers can assemble custom transposomes from user-defined mosaic-end oligonucleotides. NEB describes the method as platform-agnostic and says it accommodates custom assay development, single-cell workflows and the development of novel genomic methods.
NEB targets lot variability in unloaded Tn5 transposases
NEB's Director of Business Development, Isaac Meek, said the product addresses lot variability issues common to unloaded Tn5 transposases and meets stringent quality standards for broader research applications.
seqWell Chief Scientific Officer Joe Mellor said NEB's manufacturing scale will bring TnX to a wider audience in the genomics community.
NEB sells the enzyme directly with loading protocols
