A lamp that does more than just light a room
Bentzen’s vision for the Two-Layer Pendant was inspired by a single piece of glass—a simple object that sparked a years-long design journey. His approach transformed the concept into a lamp that not only illuminates, but also elevates its surroundings.
“This has been the longest project I’ve worked on to date. It has been incredibly challenging to develop the lamp due to its complex form and mouth-blown glass construction, featuring two distinct layers,” says Bentzen of the process.
Sophisticated simplicity meets handmade quality
The Two-Layer Pendant showcases two functional lighting elements in one seamless design:
- A directional beam to light the table or surface below.
- A warm, diffused glow that fills the space thanks to the steel mesh holster housing the LED light source.
Crafted from dual-layered mouth-blown glass, each pendant has a distinct artisanal texture that softens the light and highlights the unique quality of the material.

“The Two-Layer Pendant combines two types of light—directional functional light for the table, and comfortable ambient light—in one lamp. The mouth-blown glass softly diffuses the light, highlighting the material's distinct quality and its small imperfections. The design translates classic Scandinavian principles of good lighting, often the result of several different light sources, capturing that quality in a single refined object,” shares Bentzen.
