STOCKHOLM – November 03, 2026 -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted Moberg Pharma a patent on an improved dosing regimen for MOB-015, its topical onychomycosis drug, with a projected expiry in December 2041. The U.S. is the first market to grant a patent on the new dosing.
Patent draws on European approval studies and North American Phase 3 data
The patent covers new dosing approaches for MOB-015. It rests on clinical results from the studies behind the European approval and from the company's most recently completed Phase 3 study in North America. Dosing patent applications in other markets remain under examination.
Moberg Pharma holds all U.S. rights and plans another Phase 3 study
Moberg Pharma holds all U.S. rights to MOB-015. The company describes the U.S. as the largest single onychomycosis market globally. It aims to run an additional Phase 3 study to support a future FDA approval. CEO Anna Ljung said the company is still evaluating the best development and partnership strategy for the U.S., and called the stronger IP position "an important part of creating long-term value from the asset."
MOB-015 is approved in 14 countries and leads the market in Sweden and Norway
Near-term focus stays on markets where MOB-015 is already approved or where commercial partnerships exist. The drug is approved in 14 countries. It is sold as Terclara in Sweden and Norway, where it is the market leader. Moberg Pharma is preparing a broader international rollout, including launches with Karo Healthcare under the Lamisil brand.
