Labcorp Acquires MLM Medical Labs, Gains Four-Continent Lab Network

Burlington, N.C. – September 11, 2026 -- Labcorp (NYSE: LH) has acquired MLM Medical Labs, a central and specialty laboratory provider with operations in the United States, Germany and South Africa, financial terms undisclosed.

Labcorp becomes the only central lab provider with wholly owned facilities on four continents

The deal extends Labcorp's laboratory footprint across North America, Europe, Asia and Africa, combining its global scale with MLM's regional laboratory network and biomarker testing capabilities. The transaction strengthens Labcorp's position as an independent central laboratory services provider for clinical trial sponsors.

MLM operates Africa's first fully CAP-accredited central laboratory

The acquisition gives Labcorp direct access to this accreditation, expanding its reach into a clinical research market where infrastructure has historically lagged other regions. Brian Caveney, M.D., EVP and president of biopharma laboratory services and chief medical and scientific officer at Labcorp, said sponsors increasingly require scientific expertise, global reach and operational flexibility to run complex, multinational development programs.

Deal adds biomarker and specialty testing scale for complex trial sponsors

Labcorp said the combined infrastructure will support multinational clinical trials with consistent scientific, operational and regulatory oversight through a single provider, serving sponsors ranging from emerging biotechs to established pharmaceutical companies. Evercore acted as exclusive financial advisor to Labcorp, while Pierson Ferdinand and Hogan Lovells served as legal counsel on the transaction.
