Paxalisib carries multiple FDA designations across brain tumor indications
Kazia's lead asset, paxalisib, is an investigational oral, brain-penetrant dual PI3K/mTOR inhibitor. It is in development for central nervous system cancers, advanced breast cancer and colorectal cancer. In the U.S., it holds the following FDA designations:
- Fast Track and Orphan Drug for glioblastoma
- Fast Track for PI3K-altered brain metastases with radiation
- Rare Pediatric Disease and Orphan Drug for select pediatric brain tumors, including diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor
Two preclinical programs target immunotherapy resistance
Kazia is also advancing two preclinical programs it describes as potentially first-in-class. NDL2 is a nuclear PD-L1 protein degrader aimed at a newly identified mechanism of immunotherapy resistance and metastatic progression. MSETC is a SETDB1 inhibitor intended to restore immune signaling in tumors resistant to immunotherapy, including checkpoint inhibitors.
The company is exploring partnering opportunities for EVT801, a small molecule VEGFR-3 inhibitor.
Kazia management will also hold one-on-one meetings during the conference. Participants must arrange them through their Guggenheim representative.
