Haifa/Frankfurt – September 11, 2026 -- Insightec has treated 10,000 patients across Europe, the Middle East and Africa with its Exablate Neuro platform for essential tremor and Parkinson's disease, a figure that has more than doubled over the past three years. The incisionless MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) therapy is now available at more than 62 treatment centers in 20 countries across the region, part of a global network exceeding 30,000 patients treated at 226 centers worldwide.
Treatment volumes double in three years as adoption accelerates
The EMEA milestone caps a decade of expansion for focused ultrasound in the region, with hospitals increasingly offering the incisionless approach to patients whose only prior options were medication or invasive surgery. Growth spans both essential tremor and Parkinson's disease indications, according to Jake Ghannam, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Insightec.
Access remains uneven despite the region's expanding footprint
Millions of people across EMEA live with essential tremor or Parkinson's disease, but access to the therapy still depends heavily on location. Some countries have established treatment pathways and broader reimbursement coverage, while others face significant barriers to care, the company said.
Insightec CEO calls for equitable access across health systems
"Where someone lives should not determine whether they can access an appropriate treatment option," said Insightec Chairman and CEO Maurice Ferré, MD. He said the company aims to work with clinicians, patient organizations, healthcare systems and government bodies to close access gaps, adding that the next milestone will be measured by expanded reach into more countries rather than a larger headline number alone.
Spanish carpenter's case illustrates functional gains from the therapy
In Spain, Juan José, a 56-year-old carpenter who has lived with essential tremor since childhood, recently completed a second-side MRgFUS treatment several years after his first procedure on his dominant hand. He described regaining the confidence to perform everyday tasks such as holding a cup or eating in public without visible tremor.
Insightec said it continues to engage with health authorities, clinical societies and patient groups globally to establish sustainable treatment pathways in markets where access still lags.
