At the "HMG Autonomous Driving Media Day" held at 42dot headquarters in Gyeonggi Province, Hyundai Motor Group detailed a dual-track strategy pairing NVIDIA-based solutions with its own Atria AI stack. NVIDIA solutions-based Level 2+ production is targeted for the first half of 2028, with Level 2++ capability following in the second half of 2028. Atria AI-powered Level 2++ vehicles are scheduled for the second half of 2029.
Sensor standardization unifies Hyundai Motor, Kia, 42dot and Motional
The Group is progressively standardizing sensor architecture across Hyundai Motor, Kia, 42dot and Motional to consolidate autonomous driving capabilities under a single technical framework, feeding a shared data ecosystem built on the Group's Data Union framework.
Level 4 pilot launches in Gwangju by year-end with Korean transport ministry
A real-world Level 4 pilot program will launch in Gwangju before the end of the year in partnership with Korea's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, aimed at securing large-scale validation data. 42dot advances Vision-Language-Action models to solve edge cases
42dot presented its Vision-Language-Action (VLA) technology, which integrates visual perception with language-based reasoning to inform driving decisions, targeting complex edge cases that conventional end-to-end (E2E) autonomy models struggle to resolve. Validation of the VLA model is underway, with on-road testing and full development scheduled to run through early next year, developed in parallel with E2E systems to improve technical stability and scalability.
Atria AI-equipped testbed navigates urban traffic without driver intervention
The Group released footage of an Atria AI-equipped SDV Testbed operating at Level 2++ capability, navigating complex urban traffic without driver intervention, demonstrating the Data Flywheel's function in driving continuous learning, validation and performance gains.
