Phoenix – October 29, 2026 -- Honeywell Aerospace (NASDAQ: HONA) will invest $500 million in a 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Tempe, Arizona, to expand capacity for commercial aviation and defense programs. The plant is scheduled to open in late 2028.
Digital production system and in-house machining target supply constraints
The facility will feature an integrated digital production system, modular robotics, automated inspection, digital twins and an end-to-end digital thread. It will add internal complex machining capability, which Honeywell describes as a key area of its supply base that is currently constrained.
The plant also moves the company toward a more vertically integrated production system for next-generation products, including Assure advanced actuation systems and Attune vapor cycle cooling subsystems.
Plant capacity is tied to $15 billion in Control Systems wins and a Department of War framework
The facility will support growth on current programs and $15 billion in new Control Systems program wins. It will also add capacity for priority production of critical defense technologies covered by the supplier framework agreement Honeywell signed with the Department of War in March.
"Demand for technology from Honeywell Aerospace continues to accelerate across both commercial and defense markets," said Jim Currier, president and CEO of Honeywell Aerospace. He said the company's recent spin into an independent, publicly traded entity allows it to make investments of this kind.
Project to create about 600 permanent jobs and support 1,000 construction positions
Over time, the facility will create approximately 600 jobs, which Honeywell says will increase its engineering depth and skilled workforce. Construction will support more than 1,000 local jobs.
The site is near the company's global headquarters and expands its existing Tempe campus.
