Hong Kong – September 11, 2026 -- The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust approved an average of US$774 million in donations annually between 2020 and 2024, ranking it as Asia's largest corporate donor and eighth largest globally, according to a Bridgespan Group study released at the close of the Club's PBC forum on September 8, 2026.
Bridgespan data confirms Jockey Club's position as Asia's top corporate donor
The corporate giving research, unveiled during PBC 2026, benchmarked the Trust's donation volume against global peers and placed it at the top of the regional ranking. A separate Bridgespan report, backed by the Institute of Philanthropy (IoP), the Rockefeller Foundation and the Gates Foundation, examined how Asia's wealthiest families structure philanthropic giving alongside business interests.
PBC 2026 draws 2,000 delegates and 80 speakers to West Kowloon
The two-day forum, held at West Kowloon Cultural District and organized by the Club's Charities Trust with IoP, marked its 10th anniversary and fifth edition under the theme "Leaping for Impact." More than 80 speakers and over 2,000 delegates from the philanthropic, sports, business, government, academic and social sectors addressed topics spanning health, elderly well-being, urban poverty, heritage conservation, youth development, climate resilience and inclusive employment. Hari Menon, President of Global Growth & Opportunity at the Gates Foundation, delivered the opening keynote on philanthropy's role in expanding economic opportunity.
The forum closed with a Gala Dinner at the Hong Kong Palace Museum attended by Dr the Hon Starry Lee, President of the Legislative Council of the HKSAR, and The Hon Mrs Regina Ip, Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council. Ip said the Club is "especially well placed to lead this conversation because it sits at the unique intersection of sport, public purpose and philanthropy at scale." Club CEO Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges closed the forum by stressing that meaningful social impact requires cross-sector partnerships rather than isolated action.
Cambodia MOU extends education curriculum beyond CoolThink@JC rollout
The Club signed a memorandum of understanding on early childhood education with Cambodia's Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport, represented by Permanent Secretary of State H.E. Dr Kim Sethany. The agreement follows the earlier 2026 adoption of the Club's CoolThink@JC curriculum in Cambodian primary schools and was signed by Club Executive Director Dr Gabriel Leung, witnessed by Club Steward Jackson Woo.
A decade of PBC has engaged 10,000 participants from over 40 countries
Since its 2016 launch, PBC has convened roughly 10,000 participants and more than 380 speakers from over 40 countries and regions. The closing plenary featured an intergenerational dialogue moderated by Yao Ming, Founder of the Yao Foundation, with Olympic swimmer Yvette Kong, equestrian rider Jacqueline Lai and rugby sevens player Cado Lee discussing how athletes translate personal achievement into community leadership.
