HONG KONG -- Aug. 31, 2026 -- Himel won the Green Technology – Manufacturing category at the Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards 2026 for its NERIO Series wiring devices. The award recognized NERIO's paint-free manufacturing process, which removes a conventional coating step from production of the switches. Himel general manager Wenjie Qi accepted the recognition on behalf of the company. The award was announced Aug. 31, 2026.
Paint-free manufacturing removes a production step from everyday switches
NERIO's core technology eliminates the paint layer typically applied during manufacturing of wiring devices, a change Himel positioned as reducing the environmental footprint of a product category not usually associated with sustainability claims. The Hong Kong Business Technology Excellence Awards judge entries on innovation and new benchmarks in technology across manufacturing sectors.
Qi ties the award to product durability and everyday use
"Sustainability becomes meaningful when it works in the real world," Qi said. He said Himel evaluates products on how they are made, how long they serve, how they fit into living spaces, and whether they meet an everyday need.
Himel expands its home electrical range alongside the NERIO win
The company's My Dream Home campaign frames its home product strategy around domestic life rather than isolated electrical functions. The Altivo Series applies design elements to standard switches, and Himel has also developed EV charging products for home use that have previously received industry recognition. Himel described these lines as part of a broader push to respond to shifting expectations on design, convenience and energy use within residential electrical products.
Qi says product offers must adapt market by market
Qi said Himel's approach varies by market rather than applying a single template globally. "Our job is not to bring the same answer to every market," he said, adding that the company builds offers around the needs of houseowners, electricians and partners in each region. He said reliability and affordability remain central even as demand shifts toward new design and energy-use expectations.
Himel was founded in Spain in 1958 and operates under its Powering Infinity initiative, which the company cited as the framework guiding the NERIO development.
