Group14 Adds €150M, Picks Spain for 10 GWh Silicon Battery Plant

Woodinville, Wash. – October 29, 2026 -- Group14 Technologies closed a €150 million (about $169 million) Series D equity extension from a new, undisclosed investor, lifting the round to more than $665 million and unlocking a third large-scale battery active materials site in Sagunto, Spain.

BAM-4 in Spain adds 10 GWh and lifts near-term capacity to 40 GWh

The Sagunto plant, designated BAM-4, will produce Group14's SCC55 silicon-carbon material and is the company's first industrial-scale module in Europe. It brings Group14's near-term manufacturing footprint to 40 GWh.

That total comprises three sites:

  • BAM-3 in Sangju, Korea: one 10 GWh module, operational and scaling.
  • BAM-2 in Moses Lake, Washington: two modules totaling 20 GWh, expected online in the first half of 2027.
  • BAM-4 in Sagunto, Spain: one 10 GWh module.

Group14 also runs the BAM-1 commercial-pilot facility in Woodinville, Washington, which has delivered SCC55 to more than 150 customers since 2021. The company says it aims to deploy hundreds of gigawatt-hours of capacity over the next decade.

Spain gives Group14 a base beside Europe's automotive supply chains

Group14 cites Spain as Europe's second-largest automotive manufacturing country and says the site places its materials next to key European OEM supply chains. The company argues that production across North America, Asia and Europe insulates customers from regional disruptions and shortens time-to-market.

CEO and Co-Founder Rick Luebbe said battery material producers "must be located where the batteries are made," and described BAM-4 as a springboard for European growth alongside U.S. and Asian expansion.

Capital targets automotive, electronics, datacenter, aerospace and defense demand

Group14 says the funding goes beyond the European foothold and will scale capacity globally for automotive, consumer electronics, datacenter, aerospace and defense manufacturers. SCC55 has found commercial use in smartphones, drones, hypercars and eVTOLs. The company holds more than 200 patents and says its customers account for over 95% of global lithium-ion battery production.
