GAC Commercial Vehicle Debuts at IAA 2026, Reports 205% H1 Sales Surge

Hannover – – September 17, 2026 -- GAC Commercial Vehicle posted a 205% year-on-year sales increase in the first half of 2026 as it made its international debut at IAA TRANSPORTATION 2026, unveiling autonomous heavy trucks, a battery-swap tractor and a new light commercial vehicle brand called MONTX.

GAC pairs its T9 truck with Pony.ai's autonomous driving system and Aulton's battery-swap technology

The T9 Robotruck integrates Pony.ai's fourth-generation autonomous driving technology with GAC's fully redundant drive-by-wire chassis, using nine LiDARs, three radars and 13 cameras. Hardware costs are 70% lower than the previous generation, and autonomous-driving transportation cost per ton-kilometer drops approximately 30%, targeting long-haul, dedicated-route and port operations.

The T9 Battery Swap EV Tractor runs a 603 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery for up to 475 km of range, with energy consumption as low as 1.2 kWh/km. Aulton's swap system replaces a full battery in three to five minutes, aimed at reducing downtime for fixed-route, high-frequency fleets.

MONTX brand targets new light commercial vehicle segments with modular concept vehicles

GAC introduced MONTX, a new light commercial vehicle brand, showing the P10 and V10 concept vehicles alongside its All-Domain Adaptive Architecture (ADAA), a platform designed to support multiple energy types and vehicle forms across markets. The P10 targets outdoor and exploration use with four distributed drive motors and off-road assist features; the V10 is built for mobile work and living with a modular interior and off-grid capability.

The company also launched MONTX Makers, a global co-creation program inviting users to shape future product design in exchange for recognition and event access.

SMILODON Pro pickup expands to roughly 30 countries by year-end

The production SMILODON Pro pickup, already sold in Central and South America and the Middle East, is scheduled for availability in around 30 countries by the end of 2026.

GAC Commercial Vehicle's expansion draws on nearly two decades of R&D, manufacturing and quality systems developed through its GAC Hino joint venture, backed by GAC Group's sales and service network spanning 110 countries and regions.

"Taking products global is only the starting point; taking our ecosystem global represents a new stage of value co-creation," said Jimmy Du, COO of GAC Commercial Vehicle.
