Fresenius: 74% of U.S. HvHDF Treatments Hit Dose Target

Bad Homburg, Germany – October 19, 2026 -- Fresenius Medical Care reports that 74% of more than 10,000 high-volume hemodiafiltration (HvHDF) treatments delivered on its 5008X CAREsystem in the United States reached the target convective dose of 23 liters or greater. The company will present the data at the American Society of Nephrology's Kidney Week 2026, held October 21-25 in Denver, Colorado.

U.S. real-world data shows HvHDF delivery matches European targets

The company says the findings show HvHDF can be delivered in routine U.S. clinical practice with treatment targets comparable to those reported in Europe. Fresenius researchers are studying U.S. implementation as adoption expands. The work feeds the company's BEACON-US research initiative, which examines online HDF therapy and patient outcomes in the U.S.

A second study applies an individual patient data analysis of randomized trials to the relationship between body size, convective volume and survival in HDF patients. It explores a more individualized way of assessing effective HDF dose.

A third presentation describes a near-real-time surveillance platform built for the U.S. 5008X HvHDF rollout. The platform analyzes real-world clinical data to evaluate mortality, hospitalization and missed treatments.

GLP-1 analysis of about 5,000 dialysis patients links drug use to lower mortality

An analysis of approximately 5,000 dialysis patients associates GLP-1 receptor agonist use with significantly lower mortality and fewer hospitalizations. A second abstract, a target trial emulation of GLP-1 receptor agonist initiation and mortality in maintenance hemodialysis patients, was selected for the late-breaking research poster session on October 22 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Integrated CRRT system maintains citrate anticoagulation targets in critically ill patients

A prospective multicenter U.S. study reports that regional citrate anticoagulation delivered through a fully integrated continuous renal replacement therapy system maintained anticoagulation targets. Electrolyte disturbances were infrequent and manageable, and no citrate toxicity was observed in critically ill patients.

Language model processes more than 455,000 dialysis notes with high accuracy

A quality improvement project used a large language model to extract and classify symptoms and clinical signs from more than 455,000 hemodialysis treatment notes. The company reports high accuracy and says the approach could convert routine documentation into data for research, quality improvement and future clinical decision-making.

Charles Hugh-Jones, Global Chief Medical Officer, said the company is using real-world evidence generated at scale to help inform future standards of kidney care.

Fresenius Medical Care will exhibit at Booth #571, with its Renal Research Institute at Booth #255. The company will showcase the 5008X CAREsystem and multiFiltratePRO.
