Kuala Lumpur – October 17, 2026 -- Founder Energy Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Nasdaq-listed Founder Group Limited (FGL), has been engaged as subcontractor for a 29.99MWac large-scale solar photovoltaic facility in Daerah Kuala Muda, Kedah, in a deal valued at RM6.05 million (approximately US$1.5 million).
The award falls under Malaysia's Corporate Green Power Programme (CGPP), a national mechanism that lets corporates procure renewable energy directly from large-scale solar developers via the grid.
Founder Energy takes on procurement, installation and commissioning scope
Under the letter of award, Founder Energy covers procurement, electrical and mechanical installation, and commissioning of the facility. Major equipment is excluded and will be purchased directly by the main contractor.
The subcontractor is also responsible for obtaining and maintaining all approvals, licenses, clearances and permits needed for construction and operation. It must deliver, install, test and commission the system up to the interconnection point in line with Prudent Utility Practices and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) requirements.
LSS6 programme opens 2,500MW pipeline worth up to RM15 billion
In July 2026, the Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (PETRA) launched the Large-Scale Solar (LSS6) framework, offering 2,500MW of solar capacity. The programme is expected to attract investment of RM13 billion to RM15 billion (approximately US$3.2 billion to US$3.7 billion).
Malaysia's National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) targets 70% renewable energy capacity by 2050. Market mechanisms including the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS) and Solar ATAP are also driving sector growth.
Founder Group says CGPP corporate offtake demand and the expanded LSS6 pipeline create a significant tender and order book opportunity. It cites energy-intensive businesses seeking to insulate themselves from tariff volatility under Regulatory Period 4 (RP4) and fluctuating Automatic Fuel Adjustments (AFA). The company expects growing EPCC demand across large-scale solar and commercial and industrial (C&I) segments, plus continued growth in operations and maintenance (O&M) services nationwide.
Founder Group pairs EPCC delivery with AI-driven O&M technology
Founder Group offers long-term asset lifecycle management alongside turnkey EPCC execution. Its proprietary O&M technology includes AI-driven diagnostics, predictive maintenance algorithms, and drone-assisted visual and thermal inspection designed to detect anomalies and module defects with minimal manual intervention.
CEO Lee Seng Chi said each subcontract award strengthens the company's track record and positions it to capture a larger share of the pipeline as the industry scales toward the 2050 target.
