FirstEnergy Names Jon Dormo VP to Lead New Generation Projects

Akron, Ohio – September 08, 2026 -- FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) has appointed Jon Dormo as Vice President of Generation Project Development, tasking him with planning and developing new power generation projects to meet rapidly growing customer electricity demand.

Dormo will report to Chris Beam, FirstEnergy's President of West Virginia and Maryland

He will coordinate with internal teams, community leaders and regulators to advance reliable, affordable electricity sources across FirstEnergy's service territory.

New VP brings nearly 20 years of energy sector experience from AEP

Dormo most recently served as Managing Director, Projects, at American Electric Power (AEP), where he led siting and construction of AEP's new generation capital plan and oversaw project safety, environmental compliance and construction across AEP's generation fleet. His background spans gas generation, wind and solar facilities, substations and electric infrastructure, including permitting, contract negotiation and capital investment management. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University and an MBA from Capital University, and is a licensed Professional Engineer and certified Project Management Professional.

Maidsville Energy Center awaits West Virginia regulatory decision this year

Mon Power and Potomac Edison, FirstEnergy subsidiaries, are seeking approval from the Public Service Commission of West Virginia for the proposed Maidsville Energy Center — a 1,200-megawatt combined-cycle natural gas plant near Fort Martin Power Station in Maidsville — alongside 70 megawatts of solar generation across Preston, Hancock and Tucker counties. The companies expect a PSC decision later this year. Fort Martin and Harrison Power Station will continue operating under the companies' Integrated Resource Plan, which sets out how the utilities plan to deliver reliable, affordable power over the next decade.

Beam said Dormo's track record on complex energy projects and operational leadership will be central to strengthening FirstEnergy's generation fleet and its long-term customer value proposition.
