Abu Dhabi, UAE – September 03, 2026 -- ePointZero, a subsidiary of 2PointZero Group, has agreed to acquire a 90% stake in Azura Power Holdings, a pan-African independent power producer with 752 MW of operating capacity across Nigeria, Senegal and Mozambique.
ePointZero enters African power generation via a 752 MW operating platform
The deal marks ePointZero's first entry into African power generation, acquiring the ownership stakes previously held by Actis and Africa50 through a new acquisition vehicle formed with Amaya Capital. Azura Power's founding partner, Amaya Capital, will retain a 10% minority interest, having built the platform since 2010.
Azura Power supplies roughly 10% of grid baseload in three African nations
Azura Power operates three assets: the 461 MW Azura-Edo plant in Nigeria, the 116 MW Tobene facility in Senegal, and the 175 MW CTRG plant in Mozambique. Each generates approximately 10% of its respective country's grid baseload power, underpinned by long-term power purchase agreements and financing from development institutions including the World Bank, IFC, MIGA, DFC, BII, DEG, FMO and Proparco.
Growth pipeline exceeds 1.5GW, more than doubling current capacity
The company's development pipeline includes gas, renewable and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects that could more than double its operational capacity in the coming years. The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
Sub-Saharan Africa's electricity access remains near 55%, World Bank data shows
Electricity demand across Africa is projected to nearly double by 2040, according to figures cited in the announcement, while electricity access across Sub-Saharan Africa stands at roughly 55%. Mohamed Hesham, CEO of ePointZero, said the Azura Power acquisition builds on the company's existing strategic investment in Elsewedy Electric, deepening its infrastructure footprint across the continent's energy markets.
