San Diego – October 19, 2026 -- eGlint, Inc. won the $250,000 Grand Prize at the 2026 BioTools Innovator Capstone Competition on October 14, giving the rapid-proteomics developer fresh capital as it moves its first product, ProteoMix, toward commercialization.
eGlint beat three other finalists, Caravel, Pando Bioscience and QuantumCyte, in a live competition. The four were drawn from the 30-company 2026 accelerator cohort, which was selected from more than 550 applicants worldwide. Attendees, including life science executives, investors and strategic partners, decided the winner by live audience vote.
ProteoNex biosensor targets results in about 10 minutes
The company's ProteoNex platform combines engineered affinity reagents with thermal stability measurements to detect proteins and other biological molecules in a rapid, multiplexed format. eGlint says it delivers quantitative results in approximately 10 minutes. Conventional approaches often depend on centralized laboratories, specialized equipment and lengthy workflows.
Three product systems are built on the platform:
- ProteoMix: a multiplex protein measurement system compatible with existing quantitative PCR (qPCR) instruments, aimed at research, biopharmaceutical development and cell and gene therapy manufacturing.
- ProteoCare: a point-of-care platform for measuring multiple biomarkers in clinical settings, with initial applications in critical care, ARDS, sepsis and inflammatory disease monitoring.
- ProteoHome: a miniaturized platform in development for decentralized and at-home testing using a smartphone.
ProteoMix runs on installed qPCR instruments, avoiding new equipment purchases
ProteoMix is the first product eGlint is commercializing. Because it works on widely available qPCR instrumentation, customers do not need to buy dedicated analytical equipment. The initial commercial focus is cell and gene therapy development and manufacturing, where eGlint says faster measurement of cytokines and other protein biomarkers could improve process monitoring, quality control and manufacturing decisions.
The company aims to cut protein measurement time from hours to minutes, reducing workflow complexity and analytical costs. ProteoCare and ProteoHome remain in development, and eGlint plans to extend the technology into clinical diagnosis, patient monitoring and personalized treatment.
Accelerator support sharpened the launch strategy
CEO Robert W. Georgantas III, PhD, said the program's mentorship and industry access helped accelerate the first product launch and sharpen the commercialization strategy. The 2026 program evaluated companies using more than 120 judges from across the life sciences ecosystem.
eGlint also took part in the BioTools Innovator wraparound Vanguard Accelerator. It supports technologies with potential uses in medical countermeasures that strengthen U.S. preparedness against health security threats, in line with BARDA's mission.
