Calgary – October 18, 2026 -- De Havilland Aircraft of Canada Limited has delivered the first of two Twin Otter Classic 300-G aircraft to Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest airline, with the second unit scheduled for later in 2026.

Ethiopian Airlines targets remote communities and tourism routes with the new aircraft

The aircraft will support the carrier's push to expand regional connectivity across Ethiopia and East Africa. Ethiopian Airlines plans to use it to reach remote communities, tourism destinations and lake regions.

Mesfin Tasew, Group Chief Executive Officer of Ethiopian Airlines, called the delivery an important milestone in the carrier's regional growth strategy. He said the aircraft will support tourism, economic development and essential air services.

Twin Otter Classic 300-G adds Garmin G1000 flight deck and greater payload

The Classic 300-G retains the Twin Otter's short takeoff and landing (STOL) performance, now with greater payload capability. Upgrades include a Garmin G1000 integrated flight deck, new Lightweight Cabin Seats, enhanced electrical systems and upgraded cockpit ergonomics.

De Havilland Canada says the changes improve operational efficiency and mission flexibility while keeping the rugged capabilities needed to serve destinations other aircraft cannot reach.

First delivery opens Ethiopian Airlines' Twin Otter fleet expansion

Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President, Sales and Marketing at De Havilland Canada, said the type's reliability and ability to operate in challenging environments suit the varied missions Ethiopian Airlines will fly. The first delivery marks the start of the carrier's Twin Otter Classic 300-G fleet expansion.
