CME Group Names Jack Tobin CFO Ahead of March 2027 Leadership Transition

Chicago – September 15, 2026 -- CME Group has appointed Jack Tobin as its next Chief Financial Officer, effective March 2027, when current President & CFO Lynne Fitzpatrick becomes Chief Executive Officer.

Tobin moves to Deputy CFO in November 2026 ahead of formal handover

Tobin, CME Group's Chief Accounting Officer since 2015, will step into the Deputy Chief Financial Officer role in November 2026 to manage the transition before assuming the CFO title. He will continue reporting to Fitzpatrick and brings more than 35 years of financial experience, including accounting, corporate development and finance oversight at CME Group since joining in 2002. He previously worked as a principal consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers and holds bachelor's and master's degrees from DePaul University.

CME Group to Absorb EEX's European Dairy Derivatives Business

Chicago/Leipzig – September 11, 2026 -- CME Group has agreed to take over the European Energy Exchange's dairy derivatives business, marking its first entry into the European dairy market and adding to a U.S. dairy franchise where volumes have risen 73% over five years.

EEX will phase out its dairy indices by the end of 2027

Under the agreement, EEX intends to transition the suite of indices underpinning its existing dairy futures contracts to CME Group before the end of 2027, including the European butter and skimmed milk powder indices. CME Group plans to launch its own European dairy indices, futures and options following the transition. EEX said dairy futures trading will remain available for existing listed maturities during the transition, with no immediate changes to the setup of the pan-European butter and WECI indices.

Chicago – September 09, 2026 -- CME Group's FX futures and options open interest climbed to a record 4,410,167 contracts on September 4, 2026, eclipsing the prior high of 4,269,622 contracts set on June 11, 2026.

Large open interest holders reach all-time high of 1,446

The number of large open interest holders in FX futures hit an all-time high of 1,446, according to the CFTC's Commitment of Traders report dated August 25, 2026.
