Comcast Technology Solutions Launches AI Workflow Suite Ahead of IBC 2026

Denver – September 07, 2026 -- Comcast Technology Solutions (CTS) has unveiled a suite of end-to-end AI-powered workflow applications for broadcasters, content owners, and operators, building on its VideoAITM platform ahead of the 2026 IBC Show.

CTS bundles six AI applications into a single production-ready package

The new toolkit includes video verticalization, regional-language localization, smart chapters, metadata enrichment, automated quality control, and intelligent clipping. Video verticalization uses AI-driven smart cropping to convert landscape content into portrait format for social media, automatically identifying the "action center" of each scene. The localization application automates dubbing with AI-generated voices, extracting audio, translating dialogue, and generating captions without human voice talent.

Smart Chapters and QC tools target distribution and cost efficiency

Smart Chapters uses weighting algorithms to detect intros, credit rolls, and optimal ad break points, triggering stream conditioning, transcoding, and packaging automatically. The automated quality control application performs "virtual eyes-on-glass" checks — including black screen and missing audio detection — enabling QC coverage across a larger share of a content catalog than manual monitoring allows.

Metadata enrichment enables semantic, intent-based content search

CTS said the metadata enrichment tool generates scene- and asset-level metadata fed into Cloud Video Platform files, replacing keyword search with natural-language, intent-based discovery based on themes and moods. Intelligent clipping allows editors to locate key moments in long-form content via natural language queries, applicable to sports highlights, social clips, or trailers.

Applications integrate across Comcast Media360, Sports360, and Cloud Video Platform

The tools run through CTS' Cloud Media Processing (CMP) engine, a programmable workflow orchestration layer that lets processors be inserted as pre-, mid-, or post-processing steps without rebuilding existing technology stacks. Bart Spriester, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Streaming, Broadcast, and Advertising at CTS, said the industry is ready to move past AI hypotheticals toward production-ready applications integrated into existing workflows.

For broadcasters using Comcast Media360, the AI processors integrate with channel origination and content supply chain services. Sports organizations using Comcast Sports360 can apply intelligent clipping and metadata enrichment to live and on-demand content, while MVPDs and operators will access the applications through CTS' standalone Cloud Video Platform.

Commercial rollout is set for 2026-2027

CTS said each application is expected to become commercially available throughout 2026-2027 to support customer deployments. The company will showcase the new AI capabilities at IBC 2026, September 11-14, at RAI Amsterdam, Hall 5, Stand 5.C80.
