Teaneck, N.J. – October 19, 2026 -- Cognizant and Google Cloud are expanding their partnership with a new Gemini Frontier Capability Group backed by more than 18,000 dedicated Cognizant associates, a joint investment aimed at moving enterprise agentic AI from pilot to production.
The group builds on Cognizant's dedicated Gemini practice, launched in April 2026. It pairs Google's AI platform with Cognizant's domain, industry and engineering expertise.
Group targets four engineering areas first
The group will initially focus on legacy modernization, developer experience, autonomous business process agentification and frontier cyber defense. It uses Gemini, Google Cloud's AI platform for building, governing and deploying agents.
The group plans to deploy a standardized, security-first agentic architecture built on the Model Context Protocol (MCP) and reinforced by Google Cloud's Model Armor. The frameworks are expected to power several collaborative enterprise solutions:
- Cognizant's Catalog Support Agent (CSA) for retail
- The Neuro® San-orchestrated Healthcare Agentic Marketplace
- Multi-agent Order-to-Cash (O2C) workflows for manufacturing
Retailer cuts time-to-market 30% with Gemini-based engineering
Cognizant cited one early proof point. By integrating Gemini models across its software development lifecycle, it helped a leading retailer raise developer productivity 40%, cut time-to-market 30% and realize 35% cost savings. The retailer is not named.
55,000 associates complete Gemini workshop
More than 55,000 Cognizant associates completed the Build with Gemini workshop, which the companies describe as the largest single Gemini partner workshop held to date. Participants built AI agents and applications and earned Gemini skills credentials. Both companies tie the expansion to a shared commitment to scale client execution through Frontier Certified Engineers.
Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said the group lets the company's best frontier engineering talent focus entirely on getting frontier AI into production for clients. Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said deploying agents at scale requires partners with deep architectural and integration expertise.
Internal Gemini rollout targets 100,000 associates this year
Cognizant is also using Gemini internally. As announced in July, it is deploying the platform to 100,000 associates this year, with plans to scale to 200,000, and it continues to raise its certification commitment for professionals on the platform.
