CMS Grants NTAP Reimbursement for icotec's CMORE CT Spine Implant

Altstätten, Switzerland and Boston – October 06, 2026 -- The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has approved a New Technology Add-On Payment for icotec's CMORE® CT spine implant system, effective October 1, 2026, opening expanded reimbursement access for eligible hospitals treating Medicare patients.

CMS reimbursement decision follows April 2025 Break-Through Device Designation

icotec's CMORE® Cervicothoracic System received FDA Break-Through Device Designation in April 2025, a status that preceded the latest NTAP approval. The NTAP program provides eligible hospitals additional payment for qualifying technologies used in traditional Medicare procedures, applying here to specified spinal conditions and surgeries.

CMORE CT is the only FDA-approved posterior cervicothoracic system for spinal infection treatment

The system is built entirely from Carbon/PEEK using icotec's proprietary BlackArmor® technology, making it nonmetallic and radiolucent. It includes polyaxial pedicle and lateral mass screws along with straight and precontoured rods designed to accommodate patient anatomy for posterior cervicothoracic spine stabilization.

CEO Christoph Eigenmann cites imaging and postoperative therapy advantages

"Through this new acknowledgement, clinicians have an approved solution to provide their patients the CMORE® CT System," said Christoph Eigenmann, CEO of icotec, USA, noting the radiolucent properties of BlackArmor® Carbon/PEEK support visibility across X-ray, CT and MRI imaging as well as advanced postoperative therapies.

icotec states that reimbursement eligibility and amounts remain subject to CMS and applicable payer determinations, and the company does not guarantee specific reimbursement outcomes for hospitals using the CMORE® CT System.
